Size & Measurement

Getting your measurements right

Stock size charts work for most orders. For made-to-measure or custom-fit products, this guide covers every measurement point our pattern team uses — in inches and centimetres.

How to Take Measurements

Use a soft cloth tape. Measure over lightweight clothing or fire-resistant underlayers — never over the race suit itself. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight. Where possible, have a second person take the measurements. Record every figure in centimetres for the most accurate result.

A
HeightStand upright against a wall without shoes. Measure from the floor to the top of the head.
B
WeightRecord on a reliable scale. Used together with height to confirm the size selection.
C
Chest / BustAround the fullest part of the chest, directly under the armpits, tape level to the floor. Breathe normally.
D
Natural WaistAround the narrowest part of the midsection, level with the navel. Not where the trousers sit.
E
Seat / HipAround the fullest part of the seat, feet together.
F
Shoulder to ShoulderAcross the back, from the outer edge of one shoulder bone to the other.
G
Sleeve LengthFrom the centre back of the neck, over the shoulder point, down to the wrist bone with the arm slightly bent.
H
InseamFrom the crotch straight down the inside of the leg to the ankle bone.
I
OutseamFrom the natural waist down the outside of the leg to the ankle bone.
J
Torso / GirthFrom the shoulder point, down the front through the crotch, up the back and over the same shoulder. Critical for one-piece suits.
K
NeckAround the base of the neck, with one finger between the tape and the skin.
L
Bicep / ThighAround the fullest part of the upper arm and upper leg.
Choosing Between Two Sizes
  • Race suits: always select by the largest of the chest, waist and seat measurements, then confirm against height. A suit correct in the chest but tight in the seat will restrict the driver.
  • Gloves and shoes: measure both hands and both feet and size to the larger one.
  • If a driver falls between two sizes in more than one measurement, we recommend a made-to-measure suit.
  • Rental suits are worn over clothing — add approximately 2 in / 5 cm to the driver's own chest measurement when selecting.
  • Two-layer SFI 3.3/5 gloves fit approximately half a size smaller than single-layer gloves.
  • Boot styles with a fire-resistant lining fit approximately half a size smaller than low-cut racing shoes.

Made-to-measure available

Cuircon manufactures fully custom garments, including one-off suits for a single driver. Complete our order form with the driver's measurements and our team will confirm everything before production begins.

Figures shown are body measurements, not finished garment measurements — patterns include the ease required for multi-layer fire-resistant construction and freedom of movement in the seat.
